Holiday Gift Giving Guide: Is It Rude To Gift Gym Memberships? Cleaning Services?
Before you know it, the holidays will be here and you'll be zipping around looking for last-minute Christmas gifts.
Holiday Gift Giving 2023
I was conversing with friends over the weekend, and one mentioned getting a cleaning service for their sister. To which my other friend said, "Oh that's so rude! She's going to think you think she lives in a pigstye!"
Naturally, she went on to add "It's like giving someone a gym membership, you're basically saying you want them to lose weight."
Personally, I thought that was a bit dramatic. I would LOVE for someone to come and clean my apartment. And a gym membership is so expensive these days, if I was gifted one I would be so incredibly grateful. But my gift-giving friend said that she would rethink giving her cleaning service gift.
Is It Rude to Gift a Cleaning Service? Gym Membership?
We asked our listeners to chime in early today and received some great answers and advice.
It depends on the relationship and how well you know the person.A Mother-in-law should probably never give such a gift to their daughter-in-law
"Gym absolutely but I would love a cleaning service !"
My favorite response:
"Send me both please I won’t be offended!"
I'm 100% on board with this one too, hope my family sees this!
