If you have read my bio then you won't be surprised why I had to share this story. Growing up the daughter of a forward thinking West Point grad my dad would be so proud of his Alma mater today.

When I was picking out colleges in 1980 my dad was hoping I would consider joining the Long Gray Line. When West Point decide to admit woman to the corp in 1976 my father had hoped I would follow in his foot steps. But I had grown up in the army life and wanted to try out being a civilian. I also shared with him that with my love of the ocean would most likely make me a better fit for Annapolis and well, you can image how that went over.

Anyway, enough about me and my family story this blog is meant to honor of  Brigadier General Diana Holland, who today, became the 76th Commandant of Cadets and the first woman to ever hold the job. She now joins a long line of well respected men as the first woman to hold the position. She graduated from West Point in 1990 and served her country proudly in various rolls over her career. She is an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran and a deserving graduate that exemplifies all that it means to have attended West Point.

Today she made history as the first woman Commandant of Cadets. Congratulations to Brigadier General Diana Holland who has also made history in the past, she was the first women general of the U.S. Army Fort Drum and the 10th mountain Division. It makes you wonder what else this amazing woman will accomplish. Stay Tuned!
