Two Men Save Person from Burning Vehicle in Orange County, New York

A video has gone viral of 2 men saving another man from a burning vehicle in Orange County.

The two men can be seen pulling the driver out of the car, narrowly avoiding an even more dangerous situations as the car begins to catch fire.

You can watch the heroic rescue below:

We've learned that the man pulled from the vehicle, survived and that what caused the crash is currently under investigation.

As the video started to make the rounds, more details emerged as to who the heroic men were that jumped into action.

West Point Cadet and Father Credited for Orange County Rescue

Larry Pickett Senior and his son Larry Pickett Junior have both been credited from saving the driver from the wreck in Fort Montgomery.

The Pickett family was in Orange County for good reason.

Cadet Pickett is in his second year at West Point and also happens to be a member of the Army Black Knights football squad.

Praise For West Point Cadet Pours in From Across the U.S.

In a social media post, West Point - The U.S. Military Academy shared a message regarding the young cadet and his father's heroic act. They write:

USMA is proud of the heroic actions taken Saturday night by Cadet Larry Pickett Jr, a second-year West Point cadet and Army West Point Football player, and his father, Larry Pickett Sr, who are seen pulling a driver to safety in a video online taken by the family.

Adding "Running towards danger to save lives is the embodiment of the Army Values and Warrior Ethos." Dean of the Academic Board at West Point commented on the post writing:

Critical thinking in a critical moment. An inspiring example set by CDT Pickett!

Cadet Pickett was featured on Good Morning American on the morning of Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025.

Comments ranged from "These are the stories we wanna hear! True heroes!" to "The world needs more stories like this."
