The City of Kingston, NY, has announced that it will be holding a public auction next month for some of its surplus properties. The auction will feature eight properties owned by the City of Kingston, including multiple pieces of land and one of the most unique buildings.

The auction will take place at City Hall in Council Chambers on January 9th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., and for the right price, you could own a piece of Kingston history as the auction will feature a unique property located at 207 Delaware Avenue in Kingston, NY.
Firehouse For Sale in Ulster County, New York
The decommissioned J.N. Cordts Hose Company Firehouse on Delaware Avenue will hit the auction block in 2026, according to a post on the City of Kingston Facebook page. The starting bid for the 130+ year old firehouse is set at $300,000, and the winning bidder will own a piece of Kingston history.

The J.N. Cordts Hose Company dates back to 1894, according to the Daily Freeman. When it was decommissioned on July 1st, 2024, it signified the end of an era as it was the last remaining volunteer fire company in the City of Kingston.
How to Bid
If you or someone you know is interested in buying one of the most unique buildings in Kingston, there will be an open house for the decommissioned firehouse on January 5th, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The City will also auction seven other properties, including vacant parcels on Garden Street, R Boulevard, Purvis Street, Catskill Terrace, Florence Street, and Howland Avenue.
