The abused horse was discovered in Greene County.

According to WTEN, the Columbia Greene Humane Society and the SPCA are now asking for our help with donations to help a severely malnourished horse.

The horse, Skye, was allegedly abandoned in a barn without food or water in the Town of Halcott located in Greene County and was discovered by officials back on July 21st living in horrible conditions.

When officials found the horse, the say that it was found with two serious injuries to her rear legs with one of the injuries being untreated for so long, it had grown to the size of a basketball.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office told WTEN that they have arrested 73 year old William Hraznek of the Town of Fleischmanns and charged him with one count of misdemeanor cruelty to animals. After he was arrested he was arraigned in Town of Halcott Court and released. If Hraznek is found guilty of the charges, he could face up to one year in jail and/or a $1000 fine.

"Skye" is currently at a foster home where an equine veterinarian is taking care of her but she will need surgery for her injuries that could cost anywhere from $3000 to $4000 but is expected to make a full recovery.

Here is where we can help as the CGHS/SPCA are asking for donations to help cover the costs of what "Skye" needs. If you would like to make a donation you can mail it to the CGHS/SPCA, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY, 12534, Attn: Skye. Or you can donate online here.

The Sheriff’s office did say that their investigation is still ongoing and more charges are possible.
