Funds Approved For Poughkeepsie Trolley Barn Rehabilitation
A building on Main Street Poughkeepsie, that once housed the cities electric trolleys, will receive $1 million in state funds for rehabilitation. Poughkeepsie Trolley Barn stands at 489 Main Street and will be transformed into an art and cultural center.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports Governor Cuomo's office announced the financial support as part of the Restore New York Communities Initiative. More than $10 million was given to Hudson Valley communities with $81 million going to more than 70 towns and cities all over the state.
Poughkeepsie resident Roy Budnik owns the property and is founder and president of the board of directors of the Mid Hudson Heritage Center. They operate as a non-profit and run the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center Gallery and Art Centro.
