Over the last few months I have spent a lot of time tell you about food drives in the Hudson Valley and how you can help feed people in our community. Recently, I was on the Food Bank of The Hudson Valley's Facebook page and I saw a very interesting post. It talked about February being can food month and it also mentioned that they will be sharing can food recipes. I thought that was pretty cool but not as great as the other idea they posted with all that information.

The other part of the post was the idea of holding your own food drive with friends and neighbors. I think that idea is brilliant. Instead of waiting for a food drive to happen in your community why not just have one on your own. It doesn't have to be big. It could be as simple as you and all your friends buy 2 extra items which turn into donations to the food bank.

The COVID -19 pandemic has not only cause more people to be in need of assistance but it has also resulted in our food banks needing support more than ever. Organizations like food Bank of the Hudson Valley are stretched thin. They need donations and volunteers. Food Bank of the Hudson Valley has dedicated themselves to the community, they want to alleviate hunger. They are a branch of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and a member of feeding America.

So let's gather our friends and neighbors to help a fellow Hudson Valley residence. Start a mini food drive for Can Food February. You will feel good for doing it and you will be doing a good thing. Food Bank of the Hudson Valley is located at 195 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson
