Two People Killed in Tragic Accident in Ulster County

Two people have died following an early morning head-on accident in Ulster County, NY.

Fatal Accidents in Ulster County, NY

Back on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 7:46 a.m., the New York State Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles on State Route 209 in the town of Wawarsing, NY, that tragically claimed the life of 36-year-old Elsa M. Booth, of Ellenville, NY.

Tragically, this week, two more lives were lost on a Ulster County road.

Head-on Crash in Saugerties, NY

According to the Saugerties Police Department, the fatal accident happened on Kings Highway in the area of Sinsapaugh Lane in the Town of Saugerties, NY, early Thursday morning. Police said that on October 9, 2025, at approximately 5:27 a.m., officers were called to respond to a head-on personal injury motor vehicle collision on Kings Highway near Sinsapaugh Lane.

Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles in the northbound lane of Kings Highway and quickly began an investigation, according to Crime Watch.

Two People Killed in Accident in Saugerties, NY

The preliminary investigation found that a 2023 Toyota Corolla, operated by a 65-year-old male from Waterbury, Connecticut, was traveling southbound on Kings Highway when it crossed into the northbound lane, striking a 2022 Ford F-150 truck operated by a 19-year-old male from Lake Katrine, NY.

Police didn't identify the occupants by name but announced that, tragically, both occupants in the Toyota Corolla were pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupant of the truck was transported to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, but at this time, police said that no tickets or arrests are anticipated. The accident forced first responders to close Kings Highway for an extended period of time between Glasco Turnpike and Route 212.
