Whenever I get to go back home on vacation, there's at least one night where we hang out with my Mom and Dad in our basement laughing, talking, and remembering. Some of the stories embarrass me, while others make me wonder about my family, and a few bring a tear to my eye.

I especially love stories from when I was young, it's all part of my history, my family's history and I don't want to lose any of it, but how do you save it? How do you keep it so that future generations will know where they came from, what you were like, where you lived, how you grew up?

I think it's an important topic especially in this digital age we live in. It's so easy to take pictures with our phones, but how will future generations see those pictures? I love sitting and going through boxes of pictures with my parents, but will others have a chance to experience that?

Here's some good news, the Pawling Library will be holding a special program 'From Memory to Family Memoir' presented by Robin Lester at the Community Room Annex on Wednesday, May 4 from 6:30-8:00. You'll learn how to write your family and personal history that you can pass down to your children and grandchildren.

Registration is required by simply calling 845-855-3444.
