They could be banned in certain places soon.

For some reason I thought that e-cigarettes were already banned from restaurants and bars but I guess I had it wrong as it looks like lawmakers in the great state of New York are now debating whether to add electronic cigarettes to the state’s ban on smoking in public areas according to the Times Herald Record.

Smoking has been banned in public places like restaurants, bars and workplaces since 2003 and the use of e-cigarettes might not be to far behind as the state assembly has endorsed the ban recently and is headed to the State Senate.

The people trying to add e-cigs to the ban have said that they want to protect non-smokers from second-hand exposure to the chemicals in the devices.

Supporters have also said that if the ban is put in place it would hopefully stop teens from taking up the habit.
