For the past 32 years, The Biannual Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show has been held at Dutchess Community College. Thousands of quilts have been shown, awards given, workshops taken, and miles and miles of fabric purchased to make more quilts as well as other projects. Each show raises funds for the Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show Scholarship, awarded each year to a non-traditional student in the Performing, Visual Arts and Communications department.

This year's show is this Saturday and Sunday from 10-5 with admission $6 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Don't miss any of the lectures and workshops, this year held by featured speaker Karen Eckmeier, who has had her quilts shown both nationally and internationally. Nature inspires most of her pieces as well as her workshops. Come and learn a new technique or get introduced to quilting. Imagine making a quilt, wall hanging, table runner or other piece that becomes a family heirloom.

There will be more than a hundred quilts on display as well as many and varied vendors offering everything from fabric to notions, to the latest, amazing sewing machines. A wearable art show will be held on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm, which I have the honor of emceeing. I am always amazed and inspired by the work of the many talented women here in the Hudson Valley.

You could also take home this year's raffle quilt, an original design by Shelley Greener and Linda Dearing, hand pieced and hand quilted by members of the show committee as well as members of the First Dutchess Quilters Guild. Raffle tickets will be available at the show.
