Super Bowl weekend is upon us!

While we're all getting ready for the big game, we have to keep in mind safety. No, I'm not talking about properly cooking your chicken wings (but, you should definitely look into that).

Counties across New York State will be participating in the STOP-DWI Super Bowl Crackdown. Dutchess County will be one of the counties participating.

In a press release, Dutchess County announced the "special enforcement effort to crack down on impaired driving during Super Bowl weekend" will take place starting Friday, January 31st and run until Monday, February 3rd.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said in a statement:

If you plan on attending a Super Bowl party, please designate a driver or arrange for a safe ride home. There is no excuse for impaired driving, and we thank the dedicated men and women of law enforcement whose work keeps our roadways safe – not just on Super Bowl Sunday, but every day.

According to research, having visible law enforcement "can reduce impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent."

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday, be safe and have fun.
