It looks like the folks over at Central Hudson have begun exploring the use of Drones here in the Hudson Valley. They say they would use the drones to help inspect utility structures and find damaged wires and poles.

According to the Daily Freeman, Central Hudson said the drones have the potential to substantially reduce costs and service delays.

The utility is using a DJI Phantom 2 drone as part of its initiative, which is in the research-and-development phase.
