Who knew this could be a problem for some.

Every Wednesday on the Wakin' Up with CJ and Jess Show we get some free therapy for a fellow Wolf listener with what we call "We Gotcha Wednesday". Each week we open up our inbox and grab a email from a fellow Wolf listener who is looking for some help with an issue.

Sometimes the issue can be a real serious one, other weeks not so much. This weeks issue involves the holidays and the family hug. Melanie drop us a quick email about a hugging issue that has popped up while visiting with family. She wrote....

"My family celebrated Thanksgiving early with my in-laws since most of them will be out of town for Thanksgiving. Well, when we were leaving, everyone was giving hugs goodbye, but my 4 year old daughter. She refused to give anyone a hug and a kiss goodbye. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but my husband got very upset. He was trying to force her to give everyone hugs and kisses and it was just uncomfortable. Our daughter is 4! She shouldn’t have to give hugs if she doesn’t want to. My husband thinks giving hugs to family is a respect thing, and just something you do, but I think she should hug who she feels comfortable with.

Is my husband right? Should we be teaching our daughter to give hugs to everyone to be polite, or am I right?"

I know that I'm a weird person when it comes to hugs. I honestly don't like them at all and I think I would be just fine never hugging anyone again (except my kids, LOL). It just always gets weird when you head in for a hug, how long do you hug for? Do you squeeze? Is it followed by a kiss? To many questions for me so I do my best to avoid the "hug".

As far as teaching kids to be polite, I don't think hugging has anything to do with it, if the child doesn't want to hug, I don't think they should force her. What do you guys think? Call or text us through the Wolf app or leave us a comment on Facebook.

If you ever have an "issue" that you would like us to try and tackle on the show, send us an email cj@hudsonvalleycountry.com.
