Attention hiking enthusiastic have I got an October adventure for you. Did you know that there is a hiking trail tucked up on the Shawangunk Ridge in Napanoch that is made for the brave at heart and the well traveled hiker? It is called Witch's Hole State Park and to hike it you should be ready for rough terrain. It is a 451 acre multiple use area located on the west side on the Minnewaska State Park, but the hike can be difficult.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has the facts about this adventuresome hike spelled out for you. Click here for the details. The trail you would take picks up in Ellenville on Berme Road and is part of the Minnewaska State Park. You actually follow the Old Smiley Carriage Road. But don't take my amateur word for it. Have a seasoned trail guide help you plan a route and maybe try to visit before winter. The video below shot by MrRidgeDog this past February definitely shows that warmer weather is the way to go when hiking in and out of Witch's Hole.

Happy Trails.
