Big Night of Sure Fire Racing Rescheduled in New York
Opening Night at the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, NY has always been a good time. That is why I know that a lot of people were disappointed last weekend when, due to weather, the Speedway had to postpone until this weekend.
I am sure many Hudson Valley race fans have a great memory of an opening night at the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York. One of my favorite opening nights to look back on wasn’t actually because of the exciting racing that took place but instead it had to do with adopting my dog who ended up having to go to the speedway with me for a few hours that night as a newly adopted puppy. She has loved sitting in the back of a truck watching cars ever since. (FYI The Speedway does have a No Pets Policy)
Rain Postpones Orange County Fair Speedway Opening NIght in Middletown, NY
It is fun to watch the racing at the Orange County Speedway whether you do it from the grandstand or the Drive-In. As the oldest continuously running dirt track in the United States, you can imagine there is many an opening night tale. Rain was the reason for this year's opener getting bumped a week. Monday (April 11, 2022), OCFS laid out the Saturday night planned schedule.
Saturday, April 16th's racing program will now follow April 9th's rained out events. The United Rentals DIRTcar Modifieds headline the four division racing program with a 33-lap, $3,300-to win “Tommy Meier” feature race, joined by the H.O. Penn 358 Modifieds, Arkel Motors Sportsman and Precision Hydraulic Rookies.
The originally scheduled Northeast Parts Group Street Stocks will return to action on Saturday, April 30th with a double feature. (Orange County Fair Speedway via Facebook)
Things will be up and running this Saturday and if you were one of the people who have ordered the race on Live Streaming the Speedway has posted information for you on the OCFS Facebook page on how to watch the races this weekend. They are encouraging people to inquire early for a code and not to wait until the last minute.
