Could Video Lottery Terminals Be Coming to Ulster County?

The decision whether to allow gambling into communities is a very serious and sometimes hotly contested topic. What does it really mean for the community? While it could bring jobs, it could also bring an element that many communities would rather not have in their town. Many people are for it and many are against it.

A video lottery terminal is kind of like a slot machine. It is a gaming machine that allows gamblers to bet on the outcome of a video game. This video was produced by the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

According to the Daily Freeman, the Ulster County Legislature’s Economic Development and Tourism Committee unanimously approved a measure last evening that would allow video lottery terminal (VLT) licenses in Ulster County for two existing resorts, the Pinegrove Ranch & Family Resort and Hudson Valley Resort and Spa. This will measure will go to the full legislature for a vote on Tuesday.
