Carly Pearce and Russell Dickerson made plans to co-headline their The Way Back Tour in 2019 because ... well, the two country stars go way back. In fact, according to Pearce, the idea for the tour first originated years ago, before either of them had found success in the music business.

"We've known each other for so long," Pearce explained at a recent press event. "We've had the same trajectory, as far as having some ups and downs and finally having hits together."

Pearce and Dickerson shared a residency in Nashville nearly 10 years ago; back then, neither artist was sure that they would ever see mainstream success. Now, the country stars agree that their joint trek is a celebration of how far they've both come.

"Literally, about eight years ago, we both said that if we ever do this, we're gonna team up and tour together," Pearce goes on to say. "So we're doing it."

Pearce recently released her latest single, "Closer to You," and has a new album in the works. In December, she announced her engagement to fellow country star Michael Ray, and has been hinting that her next project may include a duet with her new fiance. For his part, Dickerson is part of the CRS New Faces of Country Music Class of 2019, and also has plans to join Thomas Rhett on his 2019 Very Hot Summer Tour later in the year.

The Way Back Tour will kick off on Jan. 24 in Cleveland, Ohio. The 11-stop run will continue through the early spring, wrapping up in March in Chicago, Ill. Tickets for the tour, VIP options and more info are available on both Pearce and Dickerson's websites.
