If you have ever planned a wedding reception, you understand how much time and money goes into the whole thing. With that in mind imagine after planning and paying for everything one of the engaged couple decide to call it off. What do you do?

According to ABC 7, that's just what happened to the Duane family.

They booked a beautiful Sacramento hotel for the reception for their daughter. It cost them around $35,000 for the reception, but earlier this week, her fiance called the whole wedding off.

After what I imagine was a lot of tears, the family decided not to let the night go to waste. The Duanes decided to go ahead with the reception, they scrapped the original guest list and invited residents from a local homeless shelter.

One of the guests for the night, Rashad Abdullah, told ABC 7, "When you're going through a hard time and struggle, for you to get out to do something different and with your family, it was really a blessing."

The menu for the night included salad, cauliflower, salmon, and even tri-tip beef.

The bride didn't feel up to attending the reception, but she and her mom will be taking the nonrefundable trip to Belize that should have been her honeymoon.
