Body Found in Hudson River Matches Description of Missing Kayaker

Another unfortunate death on the Hudson River.

According to the Daily Freeman, Ian Jones and his girlfriend Tali Fruchtmann were kayaking near Mills Mansion in Dutchess county on Saturday when their kayak capsized. Fruchtmann was picked up by a passing vessel, but Jones was unaccounted for and last seen in the water on Saturday.

Authorities have announced that a body has been recovered from the Hudson river on Monday near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club.

Police told the Freeman that the body was located just after noon on Monday and that the body has been removed, and is scheduled to undergo an autopsy on Tuesday, to determine the cause of death and identification.

Police also said that, further information will be released once the autopsy is completed and official identification made, and at this time the search for Mr. Jones has been suspended until further notice.

Neither people were wearing life jackets and the police do not suspect foul play in this case.
