Most of us are familiar with the term "Crawl" to describe moving from place to place for a cause or a themed type of celebration. Think Santa Crawl during Christmas or even a Pub Crawl. The origin of the word crawl goes back to the year 1100.

According to Vocabulary.com, Crawl most likely came from the Old Norse term Krafla which meant "to claw one's way". I don't think there will be any claws involved on June 1st in Beacon unless one of the many restaurants that are part of Eat Drink Beacon is planning on serving crab or lobster.

20 plus restaurants, eateries, bars shops, and businesses plan to take part. Local restaurants will offer small bites. There will be Sip Stops hosted by local businesses offering a variety of beverages which means you will also be able to shop. This event is a great way to sample food and places you haven't had a chance to visit in the past throughout Beacon.

Beacon isn't the only Hudson Valley town to do this type of event. Rhinebeck just held its annual Taste of Rhinebeck back on May 1st, 2024. I believe Port Jervis does something similar in the Fall. There are a few other towns that could make a great crawl out of what they have to offer.

Hudson Valley Towns that Are Good For Food Drink & Shopping Crawls

Woodstock, New York would be the perfect town for an Art and food crawl with some shopping. Cold Spring also has a great selection of shops and eateries. Pretty much any place that has a town center could throw one of these walking events for us to enjoy. New Paltz would be another awesome town to throw a tasting crawl.
