Blizzard Warning Issued For Sullivan County
Winter Storm Riley is certainly making its presence known. Schools were canceled early this morning and a State of Emergency was declared in Sullivan County around 12:30 today and lasting until midnight Saturday and there's more.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for Sullivan County until 1 am on Saturday. Some areas in Sullivan County have already seen 10 inches of snow and with this warning, there could be an additional 10 to 14 inches before all is said and done.
The winds are also an issue with this storm with gusts up to 50 mph. We've already seen limbs and trees downed by the weight of the snow and the force of the winds. In some cases, this has lead to road closures. This is the point where we say that traveling is dangerous, but because of the State of Emergency that was issued earlier, only essential personnel should be on the roads. Stay home and stay safe.
