My experience with theater may not be vast but I can say with my limited knowledge that what is going on at the Denizen Theatre in New Paltz is electric. Since the spring ground breaking, the crew that envisioned this Black Box Theatre at the end of town, have shared their vision with the community. That's why it is so exciting that on October 11th we will get to see it all come together as they kickoff  their inaugural season with the regional premiere of play called Cal in Camo, written by William Francis Hoffman and directed by Stephen Nachamie. Cal in Camo explores the nature of the fractured family bonds and offers insight on how our past impacts our future.

The Denizen Theatre is a professional black box theatre that was conceived by Harry Lipstein (the theater's Producing Artistic Director). He had wanted to give back to the community of New Paltz and the Denizen was one of the ways he had envisioned. As the Designer / Owner of Water Street Market in New Paltz it was always his hope to add a theatre space to the market. This flexible 50 to 70 seat theater allows audiences to experience compelling actor-driven theater plays that focuses on emerging playwrights and powerful themes.
