Award-Winning Hudson Valley Restaurant Closing
A highly-rated local restaurant is shutting their doors for good and customers are floored.
It's been a terrible week for the restaurant business in the Hudson Valley. Closings from some of the area's favorite spots have caught loyal customers off guard. Whistling Willies in Fishkill abruptly closed their Fishkill location; After 16 years, Mexican Radio in Hudson informed customers that they would be shutting their doors forever; and the Take 5 deli in Poughkeepsie has served their last sandwich after 40 years in Poughkeepsie.
This weekend news of another restaurant closure rocked customers who did not see it coming. For five years, food fans have been flocking to the Village of Wappingers to dine at West Main Kitchen and Bar. The restaurant quickly became a local favorite, even earning the prestigious "Battle Of the Best" award for best restaurant in 2015.
In a message on their Facebook page, West Main announced that they will be going out of business. The restaurant owners explained that their "journey will come to an end" as the popular eatery plans to shut down operations. Customers flooded the restaurant's page to express their sadness over the news. Many of them said they couldn't believe the restaurant was calling it quits.
The good news is that fans of West Main Kitchen and Bar still have a few weeks to enjoy one more meal. The restaurant will officially close on September 21 and plan to host a special "last hurrah" before then. The owners thanked their loyal customers and the community for their support saying, "These last 5+ years have brought us success and lots of memories and we have all of you to thank for that!"
Those who have gift cards can still use them now until the doors officially close next month and parties booked before then won't be affected by the announcement. We reached out to West Main to find out the reason for the closure and if the restaurant plans to open again in another location, but we did not receive a response in time for the publication of this article. We will post more updates as they become available.
