Can we still safely eat them for dinner tonight?

In today's world everyone is extremely worried about there health and well being with COVID and all, so when it comes to doing everything we can to continue to be healthy, we do it and that's why we need your advice.

Is four days to long to eat Thanksgiving leftovers? I only ask because after spending Thanksgiving at my girl Allison's moms house, she sent us home with all kinds of leftovers packed in those black to-go containers and after eating from them most of the weekend, I mentioned on the air that I was looking forward to eating leftover dinner tonight and Jess said that it might not be a good idea because they might be bad.

It's been almost five days, including today, so are they still something I should eat tonight? What are the leftover rules that you follow? Ken called us and told us that "as long as the food is stored properly they are good for 7 days." He also said, "that as long as the food is in air tight or zip lock bags I should be good."

Nap from Wallkill texted us through the Wolf app that, "Any leftovers 1 week... when in doubt throw it out!" Shawn from Ulster Park texted, "Turkey 3 days all the fixings 2 days. Pies 5 days". Pie never lasts five days in my house...LOL...it's the first thing that I finish off after the holidays!

Stephanie called the show and told me to "smell the food before I warm it up and if it smells bad then don't eat it."

According to the Mayo Clinic, "Leftovers can be kept for three to four days in the refrigerator. Be sure to eat them within that time. After that, the risk of food poisoning increases. If you don't think you'll be able to eat leftovers within four days, freeze them immediately."

Anyone else still eating Thanksgiving leftovers this week? Call or text us though the Wolf app.
