The show that brought us super stars Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood is coming to and end. American Idol is set to end next year as it reaches its 15th season, TVline is reporting.

American Idol popped up on our TV's in the summer of 2002. It was the first talent competition since Star Search that actually had some staying power. Kelly Clarkson went on to win Season One and so many talented acts have followed suit. Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Scotty McCreery, Kris Allen and Jordin Sparks have all found success after Idol. Others weren't as lucky. If you've seen the latest Dr.Pepper commercial you might recognize the singer as Season Two runner up, Justin Guarini.

In the past few years, even with the addition of new judges like Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez, it has seemed that Idol had run its course. AI has been trying to keep up with The Voice and hasn't really been able to catch its footing. American Idol was, when it first began, a show that brought undiscovered talent to America's attention. Now, it's more of a circus if I'm being completely honest. But I digress.

With all of that being said...Thank you  American Idol, for being a legitimate reality singing competition and opening our ears to unbelievable, undiscovered talent.

American Idol will continue on with the Season 14 finale airing tomorrow(May 12th) at 9pm and Wednesday (May 13th) at 8pm.
