Sunflowers are all over the Hudson Valley this time of year. Some local farms plant them on the roadsides creating great photo opts for Hudson Valley visitors. The fields of Wallkill View Farm leading out of New Paltz comes to mind. Every year just outside New Paltz you can see a ribbon of sunflowers stretching from the edge of town out toward the ridge.

There is one ribbon of roadside sunflowers this year that has special meaning and will be helping cancer patients. There is a four mile long field of sunflowers in Wisconsin this year that a local farm named Don planted in memory of his late wife Babette. It was her favorite flower, so he used his land and some of his neighbors to create miles of beautiful flowering curbs of sunflowers.

Watching the video from USA Today of what I call "one big giant floral arrangement" makes you think of the Yellow Brick road. It has turned into a destination for many. Don is happy that his tribute to Babette is bringing joy to so many and when it is time to harvest the seeds he will be putting them in bags with her image on them and the proceeds will be donate to help other cancer patients. What a wonderful tribute, now that's what I call a bouquet
