December is a busy month for everyone.

Obviously, it's the holiday season, so many Hudson Valley residents are in their car... a lot. Driving to the stores to finish your holiday shopping and going to holiday parties for work or with friends and family seems like the most popular destination.

Unfortunately, many Hudson Valley residents aren't taking into account that now we have access to ridesharing sites like Lyft and Uber. Not only that, but we still have several local cab companies in service. That memo was missed by 31 Hudson Valley drivers.

According to a press release from the New York State Police, there were 31 separate DWI arrests made by the NYS Police Troop K from Dec. 14 until Dec. 17. Troop F announced eight arrests in that same time period. The incidents range from traffic violations resulting in being pulled over to more serious offenses such as motor vehicle accidents.

This week, with Christmas approaching on Monday and New Years Eve weeks away, the New York State Police statewide will be participating in a STOP-DWI Drive Sober initiative.
