Fall Has Arrived Across New York State

As of Tuesday September 22nd at 8:04 PM, fall has officially arrived in New York.

It's as if the clock struck 8:04 and Mother Nature said "okay, lets go!" The temperatures have dropped overnight.

Meteorologist Ben Noll is reporting that the first week of fall 2026, is truly going to feel like autumn.

More specifically, Noll said " the Hudson Valley will be stuck in the middle of that weather sandwich." Temperatures will hit the high 60s and the lows will dip down near 44 degrees.

Sweater Weather, for sure. There may be a few days through the rest of September and throughout October that will be warmer than normal, but we'll take the crisp, fall weather whenever we can.

NASA Captures Fall in Upstate New York

With the arrival of fall, New Yorkers are gearing up for a beautiful fall foliage season.

The Old Farmers Almanac is predicting that the leaves will start changing around the Hudson Valley region by the end of this week, hitting the foliage peak towards the end of October.

Be on the lookout for those bright reds, yellows and oranges popping on the trees in your backyard and beyond.

The brightly colored leaves really make an impact, but did you ever think about what fall foliage looks like from space? Can you see the all the colors from above?

NASA shared a quote as the caption, writing: "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."

In the comment section, NASA explained in the comment section that the photo was taken back in October 2022 "of the Adirondack Mountains of northeast New York during fall."

They add:

The leaves on trees are a fiery orange and red. Some trees remain green. White fluffy clouds are visible at the edges of the image.

Fall Festivities Across the Hudson Valley

Over the next few weeks thousands (dare we say maybe millions) of visitors will travel to the Hudson Valley to take in everything fall has to offer.

Hiking trails will be bustling with visitors, pumpkin will be picks and apples will be snatched off the trees.

Minard's Family Farm in Clintondale, New York was just voted the 2nd best apple orchard in the United States by USA Today readers.

Kelder's Farm in Kerhonkson was voted the 3rd best pumpkin patch in the nation by those same readers.

Pretty impressive stats for the Hudson Valley this time of year. Plus, Sleepy Hollow is in the running for best fall destination and the Headless Horseman Hayride is up for best haunted attraction.

Needless to say, there is no shortage of fun fall festivities in the Hudson Valley...which will you visit this year?
