2 Dead Bodies Found Aboard a Jet Blue Flight From New York

CNN reports that 2 bodies were found on Monday night, January 6th 2025 in the wheel well of a Jet Blue plane.

The flight that departed from New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, landed at Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The bodies were discovered during a "post-flight maintenance inspection."

The Jet Blue Airbus A320 initially began its day in service in Kingston, Jamaica, flew to JFK and then departed to Salt Lake City Utah at 7:36 am. The flight then returned to JFK from Salt Lake City and concluded its service in Fort Lauderdale.

The victims identities are not known at this time.

Could Bodies Found on Jet Blue Plane be Stowaways?

Apparently, there was a similar situation like this that happened back in December of 2024. CNN reports that another body was found in the wheel bay on a United Flight from Chicago to Hawaii.

CNN spoke to The Federal Aviation Administration and they say that the "lading gear compartment is often used by stowaways." These stowaways don't realize how small the space is in the compartment after the gear is retracted.

The FAA goes on the add that stowaways "who aren't crushed often end up losing consciousness for lack of oxygen or freezing once the plane is at cruising altitude."

Stowaway Found On Flight to Paris From New York

While sadly the bodies found on the Florida flight were deceased, in late 2024 a female stowaway was found on board a flight that also departed from JFK.

According to The New York Times 57-year-old Svetlana Dali,  boarded a flight from JFK to Paris and got all the way to Paris before anyone realized.

The New York Times adds that Dali was able to arrive in Paris without a passport or a boarding pass.

It then happened again with a stowaway from the Seattle area to Hawaii. Both stowaway situations have fliers questioning safety protocols at airports across the nation.
