12 Hudson Valley Teachers Achieve Gold Standard Certification

Congratulations to all.

The New York State United Teachers announced on Monday January 6th, that 12 Hudson Valley teachers have achieved the “gold standard” certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching according to NYSUT.

For teachers to receive this type of certification, teachers need to have their teaching assessed through a variety of different methods that include, student work samples, teaching portfolios, performance based assessments and most teachers spend anywhere from 200 to 400 hours of their own time, unpaid to get the certification.

NYSUT said that New York has 2,115 teachers that are National Board Certified Teachers. Here are the teachers from the Valley that have achieved the "gold standard".....

Michelle Cordaro from the Haldane Central School District

Tracey Finan from the Croton-Harmon Union Free School District

Reba Hekker from the Nyack Union Free School District

Danqing Li from the Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District

Suzanna Santos from the Wappingers Central School District

Jacqueline Smith from Yonkers Public Schools

Theresa Smith from Yonkers Public Schools

Joseph Streany from the Croton-Harmon Union Free School District

Linda Vinti from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District

Lisa Ward from the Newburgh Enlarged School District
