Do you give your kids a weekly allowance?

If you do or are thinking about giving them one, it's hard to figure out just how much they should get.

I know growing up in my house we never got an allowance. Chores were just things we had to do. As my stepdad would say, "You want to eat? Mow the lawn." DONE!

A new survey by the people over at PRNewswire says that 68% of us think kids should get an allowance for doing chores, but how much money should kids get?

The survey broke down what the going rate is or should be, for some of the more popular chores that kids do.

Here are the top 11:

1. Mowing the lawn, $6.28 each time they do it.
2. Cleaning the garage, $5.20.
3. Doing laundry, $2.82.
4. Cleaning a common area like the living room, $2.72.
5. Being responsible for a pet. Meaning feeding or walking them, $2.66.
6. Sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming, $2.55.
7. Dusting or wiping down counter tops, $2.20.
8. Cleaning their bedroom, $2.07. Plus an extra $1.18 if they make their bed.
9. Doing the dishes, $2.03.
10. Taking out the trash, $1.90.
11. Setting the table, $1.31.

If you follow these suggestions and you might need a calculator. LOL. If your child does everything on this list once a week your looking at $32.92 per week.
