Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

On Tuesday around 2 p.m., the Sparrowbush Fire District was dispatched for a possible rope rescue in the area of The Hawks Nest.

First responders responded to State Route 97, also known as The Hawks Nest.

The Hawks Nest is found outside Port Jervis, New York.

It's located near the Delaware River.

Hawks Nest is a very popular road for motorcyclists. The snake-like route along the Deleware River offers breathtaking views and has been featured in many car commercials, according to I Love New York.

On arrival, members requested the Orange County Tech Rescue Team and the Battalion 8 Water Rescue Team to be activated.

All in-coming boats were requested to #2 Beach while all rope teams were asked to come to the Hawks Nest.

Two rescuers were then sent over the wall to the victim and all three were then lowered to the boats on the shoreline.

The body of the unnamed victim was recovered.

Unconfirmed reports on social media say a man planning to fly a drone in Orange County fell several hundred feet down the cliff.

It took about four hours for the body of the victim to be recovered.

"The victim was recovered and the scene was turned over to State Police," the Port Jervis Fire Department stated.

The Port Jervis Fire Department joined the Sparrowbush Fire District and many other local fire departments on the scene.

They worked alongside Sparrowbush, West Point, Newburgh, Lumberland, Huguenot, Matamoras and other members from Orange County.

"Thank you to all the responding departments as this was a lengthy call. Job well done by all," the Sparrowbush Fire District stated.
