
Wrong Way Crash Injuries Five in Ulster County
An Australian man driving the wrong way crashed into another vehicle on Friday in Ulster County, NY, injuring five.
According to the Shandaken Police Department, a two-car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Shandaken, NY, sent five to the hospital after a driver from Australia was driving in the wrong direction on Route 28 Friday morning.

Police said that at approximately 9:03 a.m., officers from the Shandaken Police Department were called to respond to a reported two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 28 that involved a 2024 Dodge Ram Van and a 2024 Toyota Corolla. According to police, both of the vehicles were traveling on State Route 28 in the Big Indian area of the Town of Shandaken when the Toyota collided head-on with the Dodge van.

Upon arrival, officers began an investigation, which revealed that the driver of the Toyota, a 62-year-old male from New South Wales, Australia, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Route 28 when he struck the 2024 Dodge Ram Van head-on.
Five Injured in Wrong-Way Crash
Police didn't release the name of the driver but did say that he and his passenger suffered serious injuries and were both airlifted to Albany Medical Center to receive treatment. The three occupants of the van suffered minor injuries and were all transported to Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus in Kingston, NY, for further treatment by local first responders.
Police said their investigation is ongoing, and they do not believe there is any "criminality" involved with the accident at this time. We will update this article when more information is available.
