Legalizing marijuana for recreational use has been a central political topic in New York State.

While recreational marijuana is not legal in New York State, it does seem that it will happen eventually. You're probably wondering, why isn't marijuana legalized in New York yet? Well, there have been plenty of attempts to introduce legislation to legalize weed. Now, many counties are being faced with the question if they would allow sales of the drug, pending it gets legalized.

The Democrat and Chronicle reports that within the 62 New York State counties, about 46 of them haven't decided where they stand on recreational marijuana sales. All five counties in New York City are expected to allow sales. Broome County also said it would allow the sales of recreational marijuana.

According to the Democrat and Chronicle, two counties in the Hudson Valley have indicated they would opt out of recreational marijuana sales. Rockland and Putnam County have said they would not partake in the sale of recreational marijuana.
