This could be a thinly veiled attempt at getting another three-day weekend, but I believe that Leap Day should be a National Holiday and here's why.

It only happens every four years, and I don't know about you, but I can't keep track of it. It messes up my dry erase calendars every four years at work and I think people are playing practical jokes on me when they suggest we meet on February 29. For the sheer inconvenience of it all, we should get the day off.

Do you know anyone who was born in a Leap Year? It's confusing when it comes to celebrating their birthday, someone who last year was 64 is now suddenly 16. Which card do you buy? What age do you put on the cake? These are the things that stress me out, again a day off would help.

There have been scientific explanations as to why we do it, like this video, but a day off is definitely in order after this much math and science.

Leap years also mess up my ability to keep track of holidays, and what days they fall on. For instance, last year Christmas Eve was on a Thursday and Christmas Day was on a Friday. This year, Christmas Eve is on a Saturday and Christmas is on a Sunday. Shouldn't it only be a one day difference and not two? While I realize I probably spend too much time on this issue, a day off would like a warm hug, letting me know that it will all be okay.

Even if you think I am a little off with my reasoning, or just a little off, you have to agree that an extra three-day weekend every four years never hurt anybody. Now, how do I get a petition going?
