2 Local Rescue Pups Star in 2025 Puppy Bowl
Sports fans across the nation are patiently waiting for this years Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Others are waiting for another bowl game with cuter players, who happen to drool and bark…
We’re talking about The Puppy Bowl!
The History of The Puppy Bowl
The Puppy Bowl was introduced on Animal Planet back in 2005. If the name doesn’t give it away enough, the Puppy Bowl features a bunch of dogs running around playing football.
There’s even a cat halftime show and a water bowl cam.
The Discovery streaming site describes The Puppy Bowl as “the annual fur-tastic battle on the grand gridiron of Puppy Bowl Stadium. Celebrating all that is right with the world, Puppy Bowl is the pinnacle of competition, cuteness and pet rescue.”
Obviously the dogs aren’t playing an actually football game, this isn’t Air Bud. However, the Puppy Bowl does give the featured dogs the spotlight for a special reason.
Rescue Dogs Star in Animal Planets Puppy Bowl
All the dogs taking part in the Puppy Bowl are available to adopt through different rescue organizations across the U.S.
According to The Puppy Bowl website 142 puppies from 80 different rescues across 40 different states will participate this year.
The adoptable dogs are split up into 2 teams: Team Ruff and Team Fluff.
Westchester County Pups To Play in Puppy Bowl
For the 2025 Puppy Bowl season, a handful of the participants are from New York State, but 2 are from a little closer to home.
According to Westchester County SPCA, 2 of their rescue pups will be playing for Team Ruff.
Andy, an American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier mix, and Meatball a Labrador Retriever and Australian Shepherd mix, will be representing the lower Hudson Valley.
You can see these 2 pups battle it out on the gridiron on Sunday February 9th, 2025, at 2 pm airing on Animal Planet and discovery+.
