Town SuPAWvisor Needed in Town of Wappinger, New York

It's an important year for the Town of Wappingers. They're celebrating their 150th anniversary this year and they're celebrating all year long with fun activities throughout the community.

Their most recent Wappinger 150 celebration? Electing a new official to town office. More specifically they're looking for a Town SuPAWvisor.

Yes, you read that correct. The Town of Wappinger is looking for your furry friend to take office...sort of.

Nominate Your Pup For Wappinger Town SuPAWvisor

On Facebook The Town of Wappinger writes "Enter for a chance to be elected Town of Wappinger Su"paw"visor and show off your furry friend's best shot!"

You have until April 25th, 2025 at 4pm to get your pups photo submission in to ksterk@townofwappingerny.gov. Voting will then start on May 1st and run through May 12th.

The SuPAWvisor winner will be announced at Community Day on May 17th, 2025.

If things don't work out for the Town suPAWvisor in Wappinger, the pup can make their way down to New York City and take a stab at running for Mayor!

The 2nd Honorary Dog Mayor In New York City

Back in January of 2025, New York City elected a new (honorary) Dog Mayor.

According to USA Today, a rescue basset hound/cattle dog mix named Simon was sworn in as the 2nd dog mayor of New York City. The "indoguration" was held outside of City Hall in Downtown Manhattan and brought out prominent NYC officials.

 

Simons human told USA Today that she "hopes to use Simon's platform to promote animal rescue and adoption throughout the five boroughs" while he's in office for the next 2 years.
