Upstate New York Company Announces Almost 70 Layoffs

The company CEO announced the layoffs on Facebook, saying the company installed robots to replace employees.

The popular online custom printing and promotional merchandise company Sticker Mule has laid off 68 employees at its Upstate New York production facility located in Amsterdam, New York.

The company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Anthony Constantino, made the announcement on his Facebook page on Sunday, April 13th, informing the public that the company has terminated 68 employees in total. Constantino, a would-be congressional candidate, said that the company did provide each employee with severance pay, which included four weeks’ pay plus a week of pay for every year they worked at the company, according to New York Upstate.

Robots Replace Humans at New York Manufacturing Plant

Constantino explained the company's plan for the future, saying, "In the last 2 years, we installed roughly 250 robots to automate operations. The best way to keep manufacturing in the USA is to automate, automate, automate to do more with fewer people and offer higher wages."

His post went on to say, "Sticker Mule has an incredible ROADMAP to grow into the foreseeable future. Our "Stores" platform, for example, is designed to help others make money and is being adopted quickly. Already, we helped our store sellers make $100,000 profit for themselves."

Political Aspirations?

Constantino, a supporter of President Donald Trump, has made headlines before when he announced his bid to replace U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik in Congress earlier this year. Those aspirations might explain why his post got extremely political, stating Unfortunately, there is a concerted effort by DEMOCRATS to attack our brand. This is annoying to deal with as many patriotic companies know well."

"Democrats inappropriately wage ECONOMIC TERRORISM against Trump supporters. This has been ongoing for 8 years which is why I spoke up to defend President Trump and his supporters." Constantino wrote.

Sticker Mule, founded in 2010, employs 1,200 people worldwide and has production sites in Amsterdam, South Carolina, and Pisa, Italy, according to its website.
