There have been several situations recently involving school age children being approached by strangers in vehicles around the Hudson Valley.

Most recently the Spackenkill School District notified parents of a high school student being approached by a man in a white van with commercial writing on the side. The incident occurred on Monday, October 1st at 6:00pm on Spackenkill Road.

On Wednesday, October 3rd, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department put out a press release on their Facebook page updating parents on the investigation.

The press release states "this department identified and located the involved vehicle and individual, a 38 YOA resident of Florida, NY. upon further investigation, no charges will be filed."

Shortly after a story came about of a possible child abduction in Marlboro. However, after a deeper investigation police believe the "driver’s actions were misinterpreted."

In September two elementary school girls were also approached on Route 9 in Wappingers while waiting for their bus. Pictures of the vehicle that approached them were shared by the girls' mother.
