There has been a lot of conversation over the last few weeks about Trick or Treating. Some communities are considering not having it at all while other are leaving it up to individuals. Some organization in the Hudson Valley have spent time putting together events that will be a safe way to bring out your little ghosts and goblins for yummy treats. One of those such groups is my local fire department.

The Esopus Fire Department on Route 9w in Esopus will be holding what they are calling a "safe, spooktacular afternoon of Halloween fun". On Halloween from 3 PM to 5:30 PM they are inviting people to a Trunk or Treat at the fire house at 1143 Route 9W in Esopus. This is a family event so keep that in mind when planning your costume.

The fire house which holds various events throughout the year is looking forward to being able to hold a safe trick or treating event.  This is a reservation only event due to the fact that the fire department has a limited amount of parking spots. On Saturday October 31st, 3 PM to 4 PM will be setup, then trick or treating will happen from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. You are required to bring your own candy to hand out.

Everyone participating should expect a quick health screening and temperature check. You will have to wear masks. They are planning a contest for scariest and most creative trunks.  To reserve a spot contact the fire house via email at Halloween@esopusfd.com be sure to included your last name, phone number and the make and model of your car. Unfortunately if it rains there is no rain date.
