History has officially been made.

According to NBC News, for the first time ever, two women have successfully completed the Army's elite Ranger school, one of the toughest combat training courses in the world.

The female soldiers weren't identified but are West Point-trained officers. They were among 96 soldiers who will graduate this Friday at Fort Benning, Georgia, with the coveted Ranger tab.

400 soldiers, 19 women started the training back in April and the class was down to 96 at graduation time. The elite Ranger course is grueling training that includes not eating and not sleeping and of course extreme physical tests.

Women were admitted to the course this year in a one-time assessment of the program to determine how to open combat jobs to women after the Defense Department ordered that all occupations be open to women beginning in 2016.

Unfortunately there still remains a barrier for women, the 2 who made it thru the training will not be allowed to join the Ranger Regiment, the elite Special Operations force.
