Tsunami Warning Accidentally Issued For New Jersey Coast
This isn't an alert you ever want to get. Luckily, the warning was sent by mistake, though it surely rattled many residents in one coastal New Jersey town.
NBC NY is reporting that an alert that seemingly called for a tsunami warning was sent out in the Township of Harvey Cedars Monday afternoon. Concerned, Police Chief Robert Burnaford called the National Weather Service, which, according to NBC, was testing their alert system The one problem was the word "test" never made it out through the notification.
This has actually happened before across the Tri-State area. NBC says that in February 2018, a tsunami warning was accidentally issued for New York City. In September 2015, a warning was mistakenly sent out for parts of the Connecticut coast.
