Man Struck by Train in Kingston, NY
The Kingston Police Department (KPD), along with personnel from the CSX train company, were called to respond to a reported pedestrian-involved train collision in Kingston, NY, on Monday, according to WTEN.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m., reportedly involved a 54-year-old Kingston man who was struck by a train near Smith Avenue in Kingston, NY. The man who hasn't been identified was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
Police didn't say what the man was doing on the train tracks or exactly where the accident took place, but did say that the investigation is ongoing.
Railroad Crossings in Kingston Closed
The accident forced local law enforcement to temporarily close several railroad crossings across the City of Kingston while emergency crews worked to clear the accident. All of the affected crossings remained closed until 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to police.

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 2, 2024, first responders were called to the New Salem Road CSX train crossing in Port Ewen, NY, for the report of a train hitting a person. Earlier that same week, CSX trains stopped running around 2 p.m. after a train hit a car that was intentionally left on the tracks near the Esopus Avenue railroad crossing.
Both accidents were within miles of each other but appeared to be unrelated.
