Goat Attacked by a Bear Recovering in Ulster County
A 7-year-old goat is lucky to be alive after it was attacked by a bear last month.
At one time or another, most people in the Hudson Valley have heard a story about a human having a run-in with wildlife. Earlier this year, we shared the story of a man in Greene County who got the surprise of a lifetime when he walked into his home and found a black bear waiting for him. Thankfully, the man only suffered a few cuts in the encounter; the same can't be said for a goat that was recently attacked by a bear in Pennsylvania.
Bear Attacks Goat
A wild encounter involving a goat and a bear unfolded last week when "Evie" the goat was attacked at her home in Pennsylvania by a bear, according to the folks at the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. Evie, a 7-year-old female goat, suffered serious wounds in the attack that required an emergency rescue. That's when the folks at the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary (WFS) stepped in to provide care by welcoming Evie to Ulster County, NY, to receive the medical and emotional care she needs.

The sanctuary shared Evie's story on social media, saying,
"Hi everyone — very suddenly yesterday evening we were notified about a goat who had been attacked by a bear and needed help immediately. She was in shock and the bear could have come back at any time, so we had to move quickly. She arrived after midnight last night and we are just getting a full picture of her injuries and needs today."
At the time, the sanctuary urgently asked for donations to help with Evie's car,e and because of that and the great team at WFS, Evie is doing better.
Goat Healing in Ulster County, NY
"Evie is doing so much better!!! Her wounds from the bear attack are healing, and she is moving with more ease. We were so worried about her recovery from shock, but she is doing great. We are waiting on test results still, but as to her healing from the trauma last week, it’s all looking good," said WFS.
Evie's road to recovery isn't complete yet, so if you would like to donate, you can do it online here.
