Tourists Spend Over $1.5 Billion In Hudson Valley Economy

A report has come out that says tourists visiting the Hudson Valley regions collectively spend over $1.5 billion across multiple counties.

According to the Times Herald-Record, the local economy has seen a substantial increase in tourist spending. Tourists come from all over to visit the Hudson Valley now, with one of the bigger spots they come from being New York City.

Spending in Sullivan County jumped up by 7.3%, from $419.2 million in 2016 to $449.7. Orange County saw a tourism spending increase of 3.6%, going from $475 million in 2016 to $492 in 2017. Ulster County saw an increase of almost 6%. The spending in Ulster County went from $554.2 million in 2016 to $587 million in 2017.

With all the new attractions in the Hudson Valley, the increased spending is no surprise. Resorts World Catskills in Monticello is obviously a huge pull. Legoland is getting ready to open in Orange County soon. It also helps that we live in an incredibly scenic town. Hopefully, tourists won't trash the rest of the region like they did Blue Hole in Peekamoose.
