For the past several years, the Town of Plattekill Veterans Committee with the support of the town officials have been fundraising to be able to build a Veterans Memorial Park. According to the Hudson Valley News Network, it appears that construction on this project can now be completed with the help of Senator Bill Larkin.

While the committee had raised $30,000 for the memorial, Hudson Valley News Network is reporting that Senator Larkin was able to procure a $150,000 grant to complete construction on the Town of Plattekill Veterans Memorial Park. Senator Larkin presented the letter, stating that the funds would be available through a grant from the New York State Dormitory Authority, to members of the committee as well as town officials.

According to the Town of Plattekill Veterans Committee Facebook page, they formed to honor all United States Veterans from any branch of service with particular attention to local Veterans. They have been working towards this since before December 2010 when the Committee was given the approval of the Town Board to utilize a parcel of land owned by the Town for this use and were also given approval of the Concept Plan.
