This might sound like a weird question, but do you have a favorite gas station? Or does it change with changing gas prices?

Recently, a website did a little survey about the most popular gas stations by state, and the results are interesting to say the least.

Most Popular Gas Station By State

The website Freebets.com dove into the ever changing world of gas stations and convenience stores.

They write "The evolution of gas station culture is underway as we know it: gone are the days when they were just a place to buy fuel and a bag of chips or a pre-wrapped pastry." Adding that now most gas stations are complete convenience stores stocked with everything you may need.

They cite the booming popularity of Buc-ee's and WaWa as a prime example of how simple gas stations have become a much bigger entity over time.

Needless to say, Wawa and Buc-ee's made the list of most popular gas stations, but mostly down south and the mid-west.

What gas station are New Yorkers loving? The answer may surprise you.

New York's Favorite Gas Station has 0 Hudson Valley Locations

I don't usually play favorites when it comes to gas station. I'm strictly looking for the cheapest price, probably like most New Yorkers.

Maybe that's why the most popular gas station in New York doesn't even have a Hudson Valley location.

According to FreeBets.com, New York's favorite gas station is : Jackson's.

Never heard of it? Neither have I.

Looking at the Jackson's website, it looks like there are no Jackson's location across the Hudson Valley or New York State.

Interesting.

How did they end up with this answer? FreeBets.com explains that back in October 2024, they "asked 2,500 Americans" to tell them about their favorite gas stations and convenience store chains.

They explained further writing "Respondents were only asked about gas station convenience store chains with locations in their state, and only chains whose locations are both gas stations and convenience stores were included."

It looks like there is also a Jackson's Food Store that has a location in Long Island City. How Stewart's or QuickChek didn't make the list is beyond me.

Will New York Ever See a Buc-ee's or WaWa?

While we're not too far away from a WaWa, the closest one being in Ramsey New Jersey, people keep hoping that one day a WaWa will land in NY.

In March of 2024, WaWa announced they were expanding leaving New Yorker's chomping at the bit to hear if WaWa would be opening up in their neighborhood.

WaWa planned to open 280 locations in the following 10 states: Kentucky, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

This news left New Yorkers heartbroken. Is there hope that Buc-ee's will open up in New York any time soon?

Probably not. But here's to hoping!
