Mohonk Preserve is keeping busy offering online experiences for those of you who may be missing the opportunity to visit while New York is still on Pause. Be sure to check in with them on Facbook to see all they have going on at the preserve. I checked today and discovered they are offering a cool webinar if you are into finding out more about our Hudson Valley mushrooms.

Thursday May 21st you can join Bill Bakaitis for a webinar on our local mushrooms and fungi. Bill is retired from Dutchess Community College and will host this virtual program for an hour from 1 PM to 2 PM on the 21st. Topics to be covered will include the biology of the mushroom and along with their life cycle. I don't know about you but I am always fascinated by how they just appear overnight in the yard or around dead trees. Bill will also cover mushrooms that are common to the Hudson Valley.

I know a lot of people who wait for the perfect day to go mushroom hunting. They always have so much fun scouring the woods. It might be something I'd be interested in doing. After all it's hunting without a gun which is probably the best way for me to hunt because I am a pretty lousy shot. The plus for the mushroom fans is I don't like them so you take me along you can have all the ones I find.

This program is free but you will need to sign up so you can get a log on code in advance.
