I've never driven a bus, so I can't even imagine all that entails. Paying attention to the road as well as the kids, driving in all kinds of weather, and, let's be honest, probably trying to keep your sanity on some days.

I don't need to have ever driven a bus though to realize how important that job is. We hand our kids and grand kids over to someone else, to trust that they will get them to and from school safely. While I can't personally thank every bus driver throughout the Hudson Valley, please know that what you do matters and is appreciated.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro also notices and appreciates the hard work that all bus drivers in Dutchess County do every day. But once a year, special recognition is giving to one driver with the Dutchess County School Bus Driver of the year award and this year we congratulate Wendy Travis, an employee of the Wappingers Central School District for 29 years. She was awarded not only for her safety record but for her all she gives every day to her job and the lives she has touched throughout her career.

Thank you Wendy for all that you have done to keep our kids safe!
